I happen to have a home on the beach next to a cafenio. It's a beautiful area, however, the many tourists have taken away it's serenity. They're are too many automobiles that create fumes and noise. At one time you could see the moonlight shining on the water. Now, you have too many lights around that obstructs the view. If their was a way that they could leave their autos at the beginning of the road and walk the area it would be better for all. Also, their are too many motor bikes.

I visted Zakros two weeks ago, in fact travelled 350 kilometers in one day to do this and it was a wonderful experience. Zakros is one of the most remote places I have ever visted. The site is virtually on the waters edge below high cliffs which fall into the sea. It was the first time I had been to Zakros after visitng Gournia four tmes, Malia twice and Knossos six times and Phaestos on the Massara plain about six times. The site was windswept and there was not enough informatin on the ancient stones to tell us what they were. But during one excavation a bulls head rhyton was found and is now in Iraklion museum. I think it is more beautiful one than the Knossos bull. I am sure I will never visit Zakros again but me memories of the place will remain with me for ever, expecially the beauty of the mountains and sea by which it was surrounded.
