Rita is a
native Greek speaker, born and living in Heraklion, Crete. She studied Greek Philology and Linguistics and
continued with postgraduate studies in Linguistics, Pedagogics and
Bilingualism. She began teaching Greek in 2004 to Erasmus students in the
University of Crete.
She is
specialised in teaching Greek as a second and foreign language, second language
acquisition and error correction. Among other academic distinctions, she
received a scholarship from the National Institute of Scholarships on ĄTeaching
Greek as a second language˘ (panhellenic award for the year 2005).
Ever since
she has been teaching Greek to young people and adults, groups or individuals,
and has been co-operating with academic, research institutes and European
services in Crete (University of Crete, Institute of Technology and Research, Hellenic
Center for Marine Research, European Agency for Network and Information Security).
In addition,
she has been delivering short-term lessons of Greek to people visiting Greece on
holidays or for professional purposes. She teaches creative writing to Greek students
and senior students preparing for the national exams on Greek language. Whereas
for the past four years she has been giving also on-line lessons to people
living abroad or staying locally but wishing to save time.
Last but not
least, Rita is a fluent speaker of English, speaks very well French and has a
basic command of German language. She enjoys being and working with people from
different countries around the world as a consequence of been brought up in a
multicultural, touristic, family environment.
